Oct. 11th, 2003 Ride

Rancho Cordova to Columbia State Historic Park

Level 2-3 Novice Ride – 177 miles

(2 lane country roads and speeds make it a 2, distance and some curves make it a 3)

Start: Carl’s Jr. & Starbucks (3100 Sunrise Blvd. 916-631-8115) parking lot on the SW corner of Sunrise Blvd. and White Rock Road. If coming south on Sunrise from Hwy 50 (3 mi.) proceed through the intersection of White Rock Rd. and turn right into the parking lot immediately AFTER you pass Carl’s Jr.

9:00 am meet if you’re going to eat, gas or pee, 9:15 am Riders Meeting and Group Design, 9:30 am Clutches Out.

This ride is a full round trip adventure on mostly 2 lane roads with some freeway. The road surfaces are very good, posted speed limits will be observed, breaks and gas are planned at the 65 mile point, the park is at the 81 mile point and an additional break, gas, regroup or disband at the 160 mile point if needed before reentering Sacramento proper.

There will be an optional more advanced rider section available out of Angels Camp via Hwy 4 on Parrots Ferry Rd. to Columbia State Park. The novice group will proceed out of Angels Camp on Hwy 49 S and reunite with the group at the Columbia State Park parking lot.

Columbia State Historic Park has something for everyone. It is a living gold rush town with lots of sights to see, lunch will be on your own at any one of 4 restaurants along the wooden plank sidewalks, picnic tables are available for those of you that want to bring lunch along. Plans are for all riders that have “stated” to the ride coordinator that they want to return with the group, to meet back at the bikes approximately 1.5 hrs. after arrival to start the return trip.
